Everyone loves a holiday!
But can you still eat healthily when you are travelling? The answer is – Yes!
Plane foods and fast foods on the highway are often processed, high in fat or sugar and not necessarily health promoting.
So, prepare yourself for success. Plane, train, boat and bus trips- Pack foods from home that you will be eating on your first travel day. Food that will sustain you. Delicious salad bowls with protein included such as egg, tofu, beans or lean meat.
The old-fashioned sandwich or wrap with salad and protein is also a great option. Nuts, seeds, chopped vegetable sticks or crackers with humus dip and fresh or dried fruit are also good choices. Use a small cooler bag and some ice bricks if needed to keep food cool and fresh.
Take your Grainfields with you! A spoonful of any Grainfields powder is easy to mix with a cup of water.
A shaker bottle is also easy to take with you, some Grainfields Smoothie base with a small, long-life pack of almond milk or water makes a nutrient dense superfood liquid drink. Or a combination shake with any of the Grainfields powders such as Grains and Greens or Supergreens + Dunaliella.
The Grainfields bars are conveniently wrapped, fill you up, are high in nutrients, don’t need refrigeration and are easy to pack in your handbag, carry on flight bag or backpack.
Grainfields Organic Hemp Seed Sprinkle is our staff favourite, it is so easy to sprinkle over any foods– breakfast, snacks, lunch or dinner.
Grainfields Artamix with Turmeric and Black Pepper capsules are excellent to take with you if you are prone to aches and pains. They are handy to take, especially if you are doing physical activities such as skiing, rock climbing or hiking.
Take a 500ml travel sized bottle of Grainfields Lemon and Ginger with you. As this is a live source of good flora, it may help keep bad bugs and digestive issues at bay. Our Company Director swears this has been a life saver during overseas trips to countries which are known for contaminants in food and water. Contaminants can cause gastro issues like travellers diarrhoea or Bali belly. In some countries safe water for drinking can be an issue. You can take a water bottle with a built-in filter if you want to be enviro friendly and don’t want to buy bottled water. Just check on the particular water filter brand as some are more effective than others.
If you are flying with Grainfields liquids, or packing them in baggage, as a precaution, wrap bottles in a plastic bag to avoid the rare chance that accidental leakage occurs.
Go online and do some research beforehand on what healthy foods are available in the area/ country you are travelling to. Markets and quaint villages are great places to soak up the culture and find locally produced foods and new exotic tastes.
If you are staying in motels, most rooms will have a small fridge to store fresh food items which you can pick up from local markets or stores. Some accommodations have a small kitchen or a communal kitchen for longer stays and for those who enjoy cooking.
If it’s a road trip or camping, just use an esky and replace the ice every couple of days.
